Nelson and Colne
Nelson and Colne College Sixth Form was founded from an amalgamation of Nelson College of Further Education and Colne Technical School in November 1955. Since that time it has enjoyed outstanding success and gained a national reputation for being amongst the best further education providers in the UK.
We are an ‘Outstanding College’
The College has been judged ‘Outstanding’ in two full inspections since 2005 and was awarded prestigious Beacon College status in 2006 – an award offered to the best colleges in the country, highlighting excellence, innovation and exceptional teaching and learning.
We are recognised for excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
We have also been awarded STEM Assured® status by the New Engineering Foundation (NEF), this is a standard recognising excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics provision within the Further Education sector.

Outstanding education
The College has been instrumental in developing outstanding education for the people of Pendle and surrounding boroughs. Many of our teachers are examiners and Ofsted Inspectors; they are dedicated to the maintenance of high quality teaching across our College. We also work closely with businesses in East Lancashire and the surrounding areas to ensure that our educational provision matches the workforce requirements of the local area, ensuring that our young people leave us with real skills for real life.
